Eloping in Utah National Parks

Weddings are a very special moment in the lives of the couple getting married, but with it comes endless amounts of stress. You may find yourself asking the following questions: “Who should I invite?” “How can I avoid speaking to my crazy mother-in-law and weird uncle I feel obligated to invite on my wedding day?” “Where should my wedding be located?” With elopement, you are able to get rid of the first two questions entirely, leaving only the last one, which is filled with excitement and possibility. Take your crazy mother-in-law and weird uncle out of the equation, and put your focus entirely on your new spouse in one of Utah’s many beautiful national parks. No matter where you and the love of your life choose to elope, there is a little bit of something for everyone in Utah. In this article, we will explain why we think Zion, Canyonlands, and Bryce Canyon National Parks could be the right destination for you and your lover. Did we mention that eloping is cheaper than traditional weddings too? There’s a lot to dive into. Without further ado, here are our picks for the best places to elope in Utah in 2022.

Bryce Canyon National Park

When looking for places to elope Bryce Canyon is a must see for couples when looking at national parks. Bryce Canyon is full of unique rock forms that create a sense of wonder and mysticallity. With the highest concentration of rock forms like this in the U.S. Bryce Canyon is definitely a beautiful location to consider eloping to. With a massive plateau overlooking a beautiful scenic view it creates a great spot to take wedding pictures. An especially beautiful time to see Bryce Canyon is when the rock formations are capped with snow creating an amazing contrast of orange, red, and white.

  Canyonland National Park

The Canyonlands. Another unforgettable place to visit while exploring beautiful Utah. Stretching out across 527 square miles, the Canyonlands is made of buttes

carved by the Colorado river from rock formations nearly 300 million years old. Whether you are a history buff searching for remnants of the many natives who once lived in the Canyonlands, or an avid adventurer hoping to explore the outdoors through hikes and tours, Canyonlands is a perfect place for you. With canyonland’s vast variety of landscapes, you can partake in 4 wheeling, hiking, boating, rock climbing, horseback riding, or simply avoiding all the crazy in today’s world. With discoveries at every corner, it makes a perfect place to spend your elopement in Utah. Learn more about eloping in the canyon lands here!

Zion National Park

Let’s talk about elopement location. There are too many spots to list that would be incredible for an elopement but here are a couple of our faves. Observation Point lookout, and Echo Canyon.

The observation point is our all-time favorite elopement location. This is a 8-mile trail that features a challenging but extremely beautiful slow incline to your destination. This entire trail has incredible views of the canyon below. The pathway is carved out of the side of the canyon walls. Once you’ve reached Observation Point, you will be able to look out and see the famous Angels Landing trail far below. This is in our opinion, one of the best views in Zion. While on your way to the lookout you will come across Echo Canyon. This is another lesser-known slot canyon that would be a fabulous elopement location. It is off the beaten path a bit, it’s lush with plants and red rock, had level ground, and seclusion.

While in Zion if you are looking for a romantic location to camp out under the stars there are many roads before the town of Zion that can bring you to some amazing campsites. One of our favorites is Smithsonian Butte rd. This trail is a bit rugged and requires a 4 wheel vehicle with high clearance. If you can make it up the first few turns you will be rewarded with; seclusion, firepits, protection from wind, and most importantly an incredible view. While car camping, there is no better way to enjoy your time in the outdoors than cooking up an incredible meal. We recommend purchasing a camping stove (and propane) that minimizes the transition between indoor to outdoor living. One of our favorite stoves for car camping adventures is the GSI Outdoors Selkirk 540 Camping Stove. This stove paired with an outdoor cooking kit like the GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Steel cooking set is a great way to make a quick and easy dinner outside the home.
