East Rim Hikes
Rainbow bridge: These scenic trails in the East Rim stretch many miles overlooking deep canyons and wilderness of bare rock these trails are for trail enthusiasts. Experienced hikers would enter a culturally significant site with the permission of the Navajo Nation. Since trails are located in Navajo Land a permit would be required, Navajo Nations Parks and Recreation Department in Window Rock, AZ would be a great resource to look at before embarking on a hike like this.
Navajo Canyon: A hike to Chaol fall would only stretch for 8 miles and you would be rewarded by a 40ft waterfall. This scenic trail would put you in the secluded desert outside of Lake Powell and through the Navajo Canyons. Again, permission is required by the Navajo Nations Parks and Recreation Department.
Venues
Slot Canyons: Overlooking the beautiful Lake Powell, are large, deep, and colorful canyons. Created by centuries of water and sand flowing between them, this venue is located several hundred feet above stunning sub-terrain overlooking much of Utah and Arizona. These slot canyons can be found all along the east brim on the canyon.
Horseshoe Bend: Located on the Southeast corner of the east brim is Horseshoe Bend. A breathtaking overlook of the looping Colorado River, with its steep crevices topping out at nearly 1100 feet above the river.
Tower Butte: Only accessible by helicopter, this towering 1,000 foot monolith is sure to take your breath away. Jumping in a helicopter at the local airport and being flown to the top starts the adventure off immediately. Following that, you will experience views of the east rim, vast desert lands, and Lake Powell.
Lake Powell: Beautifully blue and clear water reflects the red rocks of the east brim. This very civilized location offers a variety of options. Beach, houseboat, budget camping, indoor venues & lodges, etc. For smaller weddings, Lake Powell is the perfect place for everyone to have fun and still be within distance of all the beauty and nature in the east.
Restaurants and Catering
Cliffside Restaurant: Just a short drive away from the East Rim, the Cliffside Restaurant is a fantastic option if you are looking for fine dining with a view! From fresh seafood and pasta to burgers and chicken, this restaurant is sure to please the pickiest of eaters in your party. Aragosta Restaurant: The Aragosta Restaurant is another excellent option if you are looking for a fine dining option with a mixture of American and European cuisines near the East Rim. With a menu full of high-quality entrees, ranging from filet mignon to lobster tail, coupled with a full wine list to pair with any dish, you cannot go wrong with this restaurant for your celebratory meal after your elopement! Aragosta also caters if you do not want to make the trip over to St. George.
Rocking V Cafe: If you are looking for a more casual dining experience located in a historic mercantile building from 1892, look no further than Rocking V Cafe in Kanab. They offer menus that fit a variety of diets and food restrictions. Aside from the food, Rocking V Cafe provides a fun, calm environment without any Wi-Fi in an effort to encourage their customers to be present and enjoy the company around them.
